An Energy Inspector Calls

In accordance with E.U. Directives for the salvation of the planet, I submitted one of my rental properties to a statutory energy inspection yesterday. The Inspector, a decent sort of chap, was 40 minutes late and I was about to go home.

He it took 10 minutes. It cost £55 plus vat over the Internet, of which the inspector charged £25 and the remainder was trousered by a middleman. That was a bargain, the letting agents quoted £100 plus vat for the same certificate. For those interested, it can be viewed here

It is virtually incomprehensible, and I am sure that no-one will ever be read it. It is in my opinion just another costly, time wasting and indefensible burden on small businesses, forced on us by a supine government following every diktat from Brussels, (I wonder if French and the Spanish landlords have to put up with this nonsense), and will have to be passed on to my tenant.
